The 'Mental Health Champions Program', launched by SCEW is a one-year certificate volunteer programme for students of all institutes under SIU. It is a peer-mentor initiative that focuses on various aspects on youth mental health.
The MH Champions exemplify positive qualities and channel their passion for mental health towards supporting their peers in different capacities. This process, also gives them an opportunity to build their own skills and strengths. They are trained by the SCEW team in recognizing signs of mental and emotional distress, providing Psychological First Aid (PFA), raising awareness around mental health and various aspects of emotional wellbeing. The MH Champions act as a liaison between the wider student community and SCEW in promoting emotional wellbeing. They are also involved in mental health advocacy, undertaking various activities and events as a part of their role.
