  • Psychological First Aid Training

Psychological First Aid Training is a skill-based course designed by SCEW to equip the stakeholders with the necessary skills to identify signs and symptoms of distress, understand and apply the core actions involved in administering psychological first aid. These skills through different methods like role-plays and case discussions. Psychological First Aid Training is offered as a faculty development program for SIU and in the form of a workshop for non-SIU participants.

  • Suicide Prevention Workshops

A SCEW initiative that aims at fostering a supportive community, breaking the stigma and building a network of care through Suicide Prevention Workshops for its faculty, staff and students. Since September marks as Suicide Prevention month, for the year 2023 the workshops were conducted around the theme 'Creating Hope through Action'-a reminder that by reaching out to someone who may be in distress, understanding their issue, and safely sharing our experiences can be helpful.

  • Stress Management

Promoting Balance and Well-Being: SCEW is committed to cultivating a healthy and thriving community. Through stress management workshops, we extend valuable tools and strategies to our dedicated staff, faculty, and students. Together, we empower each other to navigate challenges with resilience, fostering a positive and harmonious environment. These sessions are organized in a recurring manner to sustain emotional well-being within our community and Mental Health champions, the peer support program of SIU.

  • Substance Abuse Awareness

SCEW organizes Substance-use prevention awareness to address the challenges of substance use and abuse within our community. These sessions provide crucial insights and resources for our valued staff, faculty, and students. These workshops educate individuals about the risks of drug and alcohol abuse, emphasizing healthy decision-making. Through information and open discussions, these workshops aim to raise awareness and empower participants to make informed choices, contributing to a culture of well-being and encouraging a substance-free lifestyle.

  • Anxiety and Depression Literacy

SCEW recognizes the importance of emotional well-being, and to address the prevalent issues of anxiety and depression, SCEW has initiated a groundbreaking Anxiety & Depression Literacy session. This program aims to psychoeducate, dismantle stigmas, foster empathy, and equip our staff, faculty and students, especially our Mental Health Champions with the right knowledge to navigate any challenges revolving around these significant matters.

  • Soft Skills Training

Soft skills training focuses on enhancing interpersonal abilities, emotional intelligence, and professional traits like communication, teamwork, and adaptability. These skills are crucial for effective collaboration, leadership, and navigating workplace challenges. Training sessions often include role-playing, group activities, and real-world scenarios to develop practical, people-centric capabilities. Such programs aim to boost both personal growth and organizational success.

  • Stress Awareness Workshop

The Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Well-being (SCEW) conducted a Stress Awareness Workshop at the SB Road campus for non-teaching staff, with over 100 participants in attendance. The session aimed to build awareness about stress and its impact on overall well-being in both workplace and personal contexts.

The workshop provided participants with an understanding of the nature of stress and its early warning signs, including changes in mood, sleep disturbances, fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. Emphasis was placed on the importance of recognizing these signs early to prevent escalation and maintain emotional balance.

Participants were also introduced to practical coping strategies, such as relaxation techniques, grounding exercises, and simple lifestyle adjustments to manage stress effectively. The session highlighted the importance of self-care and resilience, making it a valuable initiative in promoting mental health awareness within the institutional community.

  • Workshop on “Health, Emotional Well-being & Self-Awareness”

The Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Well-being (SCEW) conducted a workshop on “Health, Emotional Well-being & Self-Awareness”, attended by 41 participants, including registrars from various universities. The session aimed to promote awareness of mental health and well-being among administrative leaders.

The workshop focused on enhancing self-awareness as a key component of emotional well-being, helping participants understand how stress, responsibilities, and workplace demands influence their thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Interactive discussions encouraged reflection on personal and professional challenges.

The session also highlighted the importance of maintaining balance and emotional resilience in high-responsibility roles, encouraging participants to integrate small, consistent practices into their daily routines. It served as a meaningful step toward fostering a more mindful and emotionally aware administrative environment across institutions.
